We chose to create two rugs that are closely related, yet each with its own identity. They are designed to be placed side by side in our display, like a pair. For that reason, we named them after Jo Vandenbussche and his wife Mireille Merlyn.
Jo Vandenbussche is the founder of JOV, and Mireille worked alongside him for many years. Both are still involved in the company and continue to support us from time to time. Over the years, they gradually stepped back to allow their son, Giles Vandenbussche, to take the lead.
As JOV celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, it felt like the right moment to honour Jo and Mireille by adding their names to the collection. This rug is named JO, with its complementary design MIMI.
The pattern is made in our Naya quality, crafted from 100% New Zealand wool. It plays with gradients in different tones and scales, which from a distance come together in a square tile-like pattern. The rug is finished with a shiny border in our Soft quality, made from 100% Tencel Lyocell, creating a refined contrast with the matte wool.
